Tonight’s fabulous queer artist feature is @delicious_gold
Quinn Faylor, AKA Delicious Gold is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Detroit, Michigan. They were born and raised in Petoskey, Michigan, and received their BA in Arts and Ideas in the Humanities from the University of Michigan in 2016. Since finishing their undergraduate degree, they have completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail and Colorado Trail.
They are a self-taught artist whose work largely explores the dichotomy of structure and nature and language of the healing body. Faylor’s art is highly influenced by the natural world, the conceptual symmetry of growth; how, nothing is perfect and everything is so – and their style follows suit. Their pieces develop as a network of freehand lines.
Their murals are grounded in the absurdity of color, the character of a shapes and the distinction of the line. Their oil paintings capture the motion and heat of transformation through the agitation and eccentricity of brushstrokes. Their illustrations play on the surreal. Each piece seeks to capture a moment, a truth, or a fear. Faylor’sart is their healing; their process; their sanctuary.
