Sister Grinnan Bearette - The Art of Being Queer

Tonight's queer artist feature is Sister Grinnan Bearette

Sister Grinnan Bearette

This is digital artwork depicting different Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. SPI has been around since 1979 with a wide range of history based in activism around the AIDS crisis, street/bar theatrical actions/out reach and nonprofit fundraising and charity work.

SPI has grown to a now international organization with abbeys all over. Each sister house is very different but all have the shared ideals/and vows worked into their foundation to expiate stigmatic guilt and promulgate universal joy. This project of “sis_gender” was started to help fundraise for the Portland Sisters nonprofit work.

Almost every piece is available in print, sticker and candle via Etsy and every cent is donated.
